Heartbeat of Grace

Heartbeat of Grace

Corrupt tax collectors. Simple fishermen. Vengeful zealots. Self-assured teenagers.

To each of these, Jesus’ invitation was the same: Follow me.

And that diverse and discordant group did follow Jesus for the better part of three years.

He trained them. He invited them into the tasks of the Kingdom of God. And then, on the night before he was crucified, he reclined with them at the table, sharing life and mission, grace and truth. That night, Jesus told his disciples: “I have eagerly desired to eat this meal with you” (Luke 22:14-38).

At Grace Snellville, that kind of Table Community is the goal. Around godly tables, our families flourish, our friends find life, and our neighbors are welcomed and loved. It’s the kind of connection we eagerly desire instead of an obligation or calendar-clogger.

But here’s the catch: you can’t just sign up to be part of a Table Community. These kinds of communities can’t be manufactured or engineered. Rather, life-giving Table Communities full of family, friends, and neighbors emerge organically as we worship together (Temple Community), grow together (Training Community), and serve together (Task Community).

This is why our mission at Grace Snellville is to equip one another to follow Jesus well into the neighborhoods, nations, and next generation. Our main focus is not to get as many people as possible into our buildings but to see as many people as possible following Jesus well out in our community, engaging needs across barriers, and raising up the next generation to know God.

Next Steps

Start with Grace

Start with Grace is a one-hour gathering for anyone who is new to Grace Snellville, wants to discover more about how they can get involved, or is looking to get connected with the right community.

If you have attended Start with Grace, a great next step is Connect with Grace, a group series which meets twice a year. This is an opportunity to learn more about the DNA of Grace and why we do what we do. It’s a chance to connect with the vision of our church and other people in our church and how we seek to follow Jesus well into the neighborhoods, nations, and next generation. Connect with Grace is also the next step in becoming a member of Grace Snellville.

Next Meeting

The next Start with Grace is Sunday, January 12, 2025.

Table Communities

At Grace Snellville, Table Community is the goal. Around godly tables, our families flourish, our friends find life, and our neighbors are welcomed and loved. It’s the kind of connection we eagerly desire instead of an obligation or calendar-clogger. Although we offer invitation into some pre-existing Table Communities around Grace it is our belief that true life-giving Table Communities full of family, friends, and neighbors emerge organically as we worship together (Temple Community), grow together (Training Community), and serve together (Task Community).

When & where we meet
Table communities meet a various times and places, both on campus and in homes. A couple Sundays during the summer, we have Summer Tables, where we gather outside around tables and picnic blankets with food and water slides for kids. It’s a good way to model table community, create ways to connect with others and perhaps continue meeting around the table!

How do I get started?
Register for one of our currently meeting Table Communities, Training Spaces, or Task Opportunities on Church Center or email Julia@gfc.tv to help find the best starting point.
